Fall Favorites As Told by PNWT Staff
The first day of Fall is September 22nd, and we’re already getting excited for the cooler weather and cozy vibes! Living in the Pacific Northwest, it’s no secret that we love this time of year. With all the reasons to celebrate, the beautiful scenery, and the fun activities, who wouldn’t Fall in love with the season? We asked the PNWT team what makes it so special and what their favorite activities are when the leaves start to drop, and here’s what they have to say:
Fall Favorites
“Fall and winter are so cozy! Comfy clothes, hot coco, soups and stews, cuddling up, and my favorite… TAMALE TIME!”
“I love the coziness that comes with it. Pulling out my sweaters. Curling up on the sofa under a blanket. My kiddo requesting grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup.”
“I like the bite in the air, I like to go for walks with the maple leaves crunching beneath my feet. I love how fresh the air smells. I find myself craving the different squashes of the season and roasting root vegetables.”
“There’s something comforting about sitting inside with a book and a warm blanket while watching the leaves fall that makes me feel more at ease with the world.”
“Pumpkins on front porches with beautiful fallen leaves, crisp weather, sweaters and curling up under blankets. Pumpkin spice lattes, the smell in the air and school starting!”
Activities
1. Nature Walks
“I love the monster sized maple tree at Scenic Beach State Park in Seabeck, the fall colors, and the rustling of the leaves in the wind! I take my dog on walks and it is so fun to watch her take interest in the leaves skittering along the paths.”
“Walking on trails with fall leaves on the ground!”
“Being out in nature before the monsoon season hits.”
2. Pumpkin Patches
“Pumpkin patches both big and small. Small local ones in the beginning of fall and bigger ones towards the end. Pheasant Field Farms has always been a favorite of ours.”
“I love the Halloween/Thanksgiving prep time and decorating. We head out to the Pumpkin Patch at Hunter Farms in Union every year to pick out our gourds.”
“I love to go to Bloedel Reserve in the Fall! They have a Super Squash Scavenger Hunt where they fill the whole grounds with different types of pumpkin and squash- it’s beautiful!”
“The Glass Pumpkin Festival at Valley Nursery in Poulsbo is a great Northwestern event!”
“Apple orchards, pumpkin patches, decorating!”
3. Spooky Season
“Weather permitting, Kitsap Live Steamers have a Ghost Train Run for Halloween. They set up miniature trains that you can ride with Jack O Lanterns decorating the sides of the tracts.” This event is also the biggest fundraiser of the year for the Kitsap Foster Care Association!
“Haunted houses or scary movies with cozy blankets!”
“Going to a pumpkin patch, going to a haunted forest, watching football all weekend, doing a fire in our fire pit at night to stay cozy.”
4. Football Season
“Crisp air, changing colors, and football!”
“The end of baseball season- GO Mariners!- and the beginning of football season- GO Hawks!”
5. Vacations
“The early Holiday time celebration at Disneyland is an incredible experience!”
“Planning a weekend getaway in the fall season is so much fun- less crowds and cheaper!”
